From the Chair

It’s hard to believe we’ve begun a new academic year! I am proud to be a part of this department as we continue to serve our mission to deliver quality dermatologic care throughout Mississippi. There are now ten dermatologists from our residency program practicing in Mississippi and our footprint expands from New Jersey to California. Our rural dermatology training program is a model that is now followed by several other states, and we have continued our streak of 100% board pass rates by our residents! We have strong partnerships with our community dermatologists and our annual CME conference, Update in Dermatology, grows in content and attendance annually. Although we face challenges in today’s healthcare system, we have so much to be proud of and build upon as we enter this new academic year.  The trajectory of this department continues to climb, and we are blessed to have so many great faculty, nurses, and support staff.  Without their efforts, none of this would be possible. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we continually grow the UMMC Department of Dermatology, and I encourage each of you to participate as we work together to meet the dermatologic needs of Mississippi and beyond.
