Anesthesiology Interest Group Meet and Greet

The third annual Anesthesiology Interest Group (AIG) Meet and Greet was a huge success with a mix of over sixty faculty, residents and AIG medical students in attendance. To cap off the year, AIG carried forward our growing tradition of the “AIG Meet & Greet”—a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with faculty, strengthen community ties, and enjoy good food together. In line with this year’s theme, “A Whole New World,” attendees enjoyed a delicious Mediterranean-inspired spread featuring favorites from Aladdin’s, Keifer’s, and Apolo’s, making the event both memorable and flavorful.The Rugnath’s opened their home again for this event, allowing various spaces for great conversations and an opportunity to build inter-departmental connections.
With nearly 180 members, the Anesthesiology Interest Group (AIG) has continued to raise the bar this past year as one of UMMC’s premier student organizations. Partnering closely with our outstanding Department of Anesthesiology, AIG has been deeply engaged in service and outreach—whether helping build homes through Habitat for Humanity, or packing meals at the Mississippi Food Network to support thousands of families across the state.
Educationally, AIG has thrived thanks to the generosity of our residents and faculty. This year, we hosted both Fall and Spring Simulation Labs, giving pre-clinical and elective students hands-on exposure to essential anesthesiology procedures commonly performed in the clinical setting.
We are also proud to celebrate the success of eight senior members who matched into anesthesiology residency programs at institutions including UMMC, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Miami.
