Bachelor of Health Informatics and Information Management Estimated Costs, Tuition and Fees

UMMC's Student Financial Aid maintains estimated costs of attendance and tuition, including information about SHRP undergraduate programs such as the bachelor-level Health Informatics and Information Management program. As stated in the UMMC Bulletin, the Medical Center reserves the right to increase or modify tuition and fees without prior notice subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning.

Bachelor - Traditional

In addition to tuition and health insurance, students should be aware of the following additional expenses:

First year

  • Educational supplies
    • Laptop computer with Microsoft Office software - $1,200
    • External webcam - $50
    • EHR Go two-year subscription - $200
    • Textbooks - $1,700
  • Other
    • AHIMA student membership - $50
    • Online fees ($150 per semester)

Total estimated first-year costs - $3,650

Second year

  • Educational supplies
    • Textbooks - $1,500
  • National board exam/certification
    • RHIA national certification examination fee - $300
  • Other
    • AHIMA student membership - $50
    • Online fees ($150 per semester) - $450

Total estimated second-year costs - $2,300

 

Bachelor - Progression

In addition to tuition and health insurance, students should be aware of the following additional expenses:

Computer/electronic devices

All Health Informatics and Information Management degrees are online programs. Students are required to have a computer to access online courses.To ensure that you have a computer that meets minimum standards to function with UMMC platforms, it must at least function at the following levels:

  • Windows 7 or Windows 10
  • Must be patched by operating system company regularly
  • Modern browser such as the latest Chrome or Internet Explorer/Edge
  • Must run a modern and updated anti-virus solution.

Travel to off-campus clinical rotations

Students are required to travel to off-campus clinical rotations. Therefore, students should be prepared to provide their own transportation and other incidental expenses during these clinical affiliations.
