New faculty join UMMC academic ranks
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Leah R. Miller

Leah R. Miller, a certified nurse midwife, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor of nursing in the School of Nursing.
Miller has been a registered nurse since 2009, working first on an inpatient medical unit before transitioning to labor and delivery, which she considers her true passion.
Miller earned a Master of Nursing, Nurse-Midwifery, in 2014 from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Since then, she has worked as a nurse midwife with practices in Lynchburg, Virginia; Elkhart, Indiana; and Portland, Oregon.
Miller has also been an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant since 2020.

Dr. Aditya Sabharwal

Dr. Aditya Sabharwal, who recently served as an advanced heart failure and ECMO physician at the Cone Health Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine-cardiology in the School of Medicine.
Sabharwal earned the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016 from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg. At UMMC, he completed his internal medicine residency, a general cardiology fellowship and a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.
Certified in adult echocardiography, internal medicine, general cardiology, and advanced heart failure and transplant, he has several research publications to his credit and has participated in a number of scientific conferences and presentations.
