New faculty join UMMC academic ranks
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Amanda Diane Blackwell
Dr. Amanda Blackwell is joining the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center as an assistant professor.
A UMMC alumna, Blackwell earned her Master of Biomedical Sciences from the School of Graduate Studies in 2019 before completing her Doctor of Medicine in 2023. She also recently completed her residency in emergency medicine at UMMC.
During her residency, Blackwell demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and resident development, serving as chair of both the UMMC Emergency Medicine Residency Program Evaluation Committee and the Residency Wellness Committee.
Blackwell is licensed to practice medicine in Mississippi and maintains certifications in advanced trauma life support, advanced cardiovascular life support, basic life support and pediatric advanced life support. She is a member of the Mississippi State Medical Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Medical Association. She also serves as the elected health services resident representative with the Mississippi Violence Injury Prevention Program here at UMMC.

Dr. Matthew Peter Pinto
The Department of Medicine welcomes Dr. Matthew Pinto as an assistant professor.
Pinto joins the faculty where he completed his residency in emergency medicine. He also served as chief resident and is a 2023 graduate of the UMMC School of Medicine.
During his training, Pinto demonstrated a strong commitment to professional development and service through his involvement in the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Mississippi State Medical Association.

Dr. Trey Redd
Dr. Frank (Trey) Howard Redd III is joining the departments of Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine as an assistant professor.
Redd is an alumnus of UMMC, graduating in 2021. During his time in medical school, he served as a student ambassador for the School of Medicine and was actively involved in community response efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. He volunteered with both UMMC and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, assisting with the COVID-19 hotline and supporting operations at the COVID-19 testing center.

Dr. Emily Marie Sauce
Dr. Emily Sauce is joining the faculty in the Department of Dermatology as an assistant professor. Sauce, has been with UMMC since 2023, when she began her dermatology residency.
She graduated summa cum laude from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences. She then earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine.
Sauce is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the American Academy of Dermatology.
