New faculty join UMMC academic ranks
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Mary Clay Bailey
The University of Mississippi Medical Center welcomes Dr. Mary Clay Bailey as an assistant professor of pathology.
Bailey earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, summa cum laude, from Mississippi State University before receiving her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Baylor College of Medicine and a fellowship in molecular genetic pathology at Baylor College of Medicine.
She joins UMMC with special expertise in cancer genomics and molecular diagnostics. As a board-certified pathologist in anatomic and clinical pathology, Bailey will be practicing gastrointestinal and gynecological surgical pathology, while also serving on the autopsy and intraoperative consultation services.
Bailey has held national leadership roles with the College of American Pathologists and the American Medical Association. She currently serves as the College of American Pathologists' delegate to the AMA Young Physicians Section and alternate delegate to the AMA House of Delegates.

Dr. Matin Goldooz
The University of Mississippi Medical Center welcomes Dr. Matin Goldooz as an assistant professor of radiology.
Goldooz has been a part of the UMMC community since 2020, completing an internal medicine internship, diagnostic radiology residency and body imaging fellowship at the medical center. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Science in Iran and is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
Throughout her training, Goldooz has demonstrated a commitment to radiology education, research and service.
Goldooz has received recognition for her academic contributions, including a Gold Merit Award from the American College of Radiology and a Certificate of Merit Award from the American Roentgen Ray Society. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications and presented numerous educational exhibits at national radiology conferences, including the Radiological Society of North America and the American Roentgen Ray Society.

Dr. Saurabh Jindal
The University of Mississippi Medical Center welcomes Dr. Saurabh Jindal as an assistant professor of radiology.
Jindal earned a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communications from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology in India before pursuing medicine and obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Kasturba Medical College at Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He subsequently completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in India.
Following residency training, Jindal joined the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine as a postdoctoral research associate in neuroradiology. He then further advanced his clinical expertise through fellowship training in neuroradiology and nuclear medicine at the same institution as part of the American Board of Radiology Alternate Pathway.
During his fellowship, he served as chief resident in nuclear medicine and was a member of the Nuclear Medicine Residents Organization Board of Directors for the American College of Nuclear Medicine. He also completed a mini fellowship in clinical informatics, further expanding his expertise. His scholarly work has been recognized with several national honors, including the American Board of Nuclear Medicine Best Resident/Fellow Research Award in 2025 and the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award from the Radiological Society of North America in 2026.
