New faculty join UMMC academic ranks
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Mary Jane Collins
The School of Nursing welcomes Dr. Mary Jane Collins to its team as a professor.
Collins is joining the University of Mississippi Medical Center after serving as co-director of the School of Leadership and Advanced Nursing Practice and program administrator for the Nurse Anesthesia Program at the University of Southern Mississippi. She also has more than two decades of clinical experience as a certified registered nurse anesthetist, serving in leadership roles with Anderson Regional Medical Center and continuing clinical practice with Lifelinc Anesthesia.
Collins earned a Doctor of Health Administration from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she completed a fellowship in health policy. She received a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in nurse anesthesia from the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and a diploma in nursing from Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis.
A Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology, Collins is an award-winning educator, researcher and mentor whose work focuses on nurse anesthesia education, curriculum innovation, accreditation and health care leadership. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, secured competitive grants and has served in national and state leadership roles, including president of the Mississippi Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

Dr. Madelyn K. Logan
Dr. Madelyn K. Logan has joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center as a non-clinical assistant professor in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology. She will help educate and mentor the next generation of Mississippi physicians and researchers.
Logan earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Mississippi in 2016. She later completed both a Master of Science in biomedical sciences and a doctorate in cell and molecular biology at UMMC.
Logan is an active member of the American Society for Cell Biology and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She also serves as director of the Zebrafish Core Facility at UMMC, where she oversees the production and distribution of zebrafish embryos, larvae and adult zebrafish to support research across the institution. Her research focuses on investigating endogenous neuroprotection in Alzheimer's disease and identifying new therapeutic approaches that leverage the body's natural protective mechanisms to prevent neurodegeneration.

Dr. Riley Corbin King
Dr. Riley King is joining the Department of Medicine as an assistant professor.
King has been part of UMMC since beginning her residency in 2022. She is an alumna of the University of West Alabama and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.
She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
