New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Hannah L. Chung

Dr. Hannah L. Chung, recently a breast radiologist with Utah Imaging Associates in Utah City, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an associate professor of radiology in the School of Medicine.
Board certified in radiology and in nuclear medicine, Chung earned her medical degree in 1995 from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus. She completed an internship at Loyola Medicine, MacNeal Hospital in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in nuclear medicine and her residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She also completed a fellowship in breast imaging at UCLA.
She has held faculty appointments at the University of Utah, Huntsman Cancer Institute; the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston; and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
As a clinician, she has also served as medical director of Breast Imaging Services, Utah Imaging Associates; breast and nuclear medicine radiologist with Mountain Medical Physician Specialists in Murray, Utah; and medical director for the Breast Care Center at Houston Methodist Baytown in Baytown, Texas.
Among her honors and awards are induction into the Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging, as well as recognition from the American Roentgen Ray Society, Journal of Breast Imaging, American College of Radiology and Radiologic Society of North America.
Chung has served as principal investigator, co-principal investigator or collaborator on a dozen research projects and has contributed to at least two dozen scientific publications. She is a journal reviewer for the Ultrasound Quarterly, Clinical Imaging, American Journal of Roentgenology, Academic Radiology and Journal of Breast Imaging.
Chung, who has participated in numerous scientific and educational exhibits, as well as presentations at state and local conferences, is a member of the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society and Radiologic Society of North America.

Dr. Kelsey Koch

Dr. Kelsey Koch, recently a cardiothoracic surgery fellow at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of surgery-thoracic in the School of Medicine.
Before her fellowship, Koch completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Board-certified in surgery, she has completed additional training in thoracic surgical robotics and da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery. She has conducted research as a surgical education research fellow with the Association of Surgical Education; a T32 surgical oncology research fellow at the University of Iowa; and clinical research assistant with Sanford Health in the Department of Pediatric Surgery; and conducted clinical outcomes research during her training.
She has held leadership roles with the University of Iowa Department of Surgery, and University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.
Koch, who has several years of experience as an educator, has earned numerous honors and awards as a teacher, resident, scholar and clinician. Among them is the Dorothy Shaw Leadership Award from the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, which supports the Alpha Delta Pi international Panhellenic sorority, and Clinical Excellence Award from the Yale School of Medicine.
The co-author of a dozen scientific publications, she has participated in a variety of scientific presentations at national and international conferences, meetings and more.
Koch is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association for Surgical Education, American Medical Women’s Association, and Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Dr. William E. Tolbert

Dr. William E. Tolbert, who has more than 30 years of experience as a dentist in private practice, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of comprehensive general dentistry in the School of Dentistry.
Tolbert earned a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Delta State University before earning his DMD from the UMMC School of Dentistry in 1993 and entering private practice. He has served patients in Bay Springs, Hattiesburg, Natchez and, most recently, in Flowood at Family Dental Care.
Previously, he served as a teacher, coach and/or guidance counselor for a number of years in Memphis, Ruleville and Camden, Arkansas.
