New faculty join UMMC academic ranks
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Diana L. Alsbrook

Dr. Diana L. Alsbrook, who recently completed a neurocritical care fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma in Baltimore, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of neurology in the School of Medicine.
Board-certified in neurology and stroke, Alsbrook earned her medical degree in 2018 at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in Memphis, where she then completed an internal medicine preliminary internship, her neurology residency and a vascular neurology fellowship before completing her second fellowship in Baltimore.
Her work experience includes service as a tele-neurologist, tele-stroke and tele-EEG physician for TeleSpecialists in Fort Myers, Florida, while in her fellowship. She gained considerable research experience at the University of Alabama in Huntsville; UTHSC Department of Neurology, and University of Maryland Medical Center.
Alsbrook, who has received numerous honors and awards for her academic and professional achievements, has served in leadership positions during college and medical school and throughout training, and for such organizations as the Neurocritical Care Society, Memphis Medical Society and Tennessee Medical Association
She has participated in educational and extracurricular activities and gained experience in one of her passions, health policy and advocacy, through the American Academy of Neurology, Tennessee Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association, UTHSC and other organizations and institutions.
Alsbrook has made a variety of invited presentations at international and regional meetings, as well as invited academic lectures and presentations; she has two dozen scientific publications/abstracts/poster presentations to her credit.
Her other professional memberships include those in the American Heart Association, American Epilepsy Society, American Neurological Association, National Health Care for the Homeless Council, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Mohammad Al-Omary

Dr. Mohammad Al-Omary has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics-cardiology in the School of Medicine.
He recently completed advanced training in pediatric cardiology imaging at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, focusing on cardiac MRI, cardiac CT and echocardiography.
Board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology, Al-Omary earned his medical degree in 2008 at the Jordan University of Science and Technology in Irbid, Jordan. He completed his pediatric residency at King Abdullah University Hospital in Jordan, followed by a second pediatric residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha.
He also has held clinical roles at various institutions including the King Hussein Cancer Center and Gardens Hospital in Jordan, as well as at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital at OU Health. He has performed humanitarian work with the Finnish Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.
Al-Omary has engaged in clinical research and quality improvement projects, and has presented his work at international and regional conferences.

Dr. Dabbs Curley

Dr. Dabbs Curley, recently a staff anesthesiologist for Anesthesia Consultants in Flowood, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology in the School of Medicine.
A board-certified anesthesiologist, Curley earned her MD-PhD in 2006 from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She completed her residency in anesthesia at UMMC where she then served as an assistant professor of anesthesiology for a year. Afterward, she joined Jackson Anesthesia Associates in Jackson as a staff anesthesiologist, working there for about 12 years before joining Anesthesia Consultants.
As an anesthesiologist, she has experience in all aspects of anesthesia care, including bariatric, GI procedures, ophthalmic surgery, interventional radiology, plastic surgery, obstetrics and much more.
As a researcher, she has contributed to several scientific publications and more than a dozen abstracts.
She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ Political Action Committee.
