New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff. 

Dr. Mary Morgan Alford

Dr. Mary Morgan Alford, a pediatrics chief resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics in the School of Medicine.  

Alford, a 2021 graduate of the UMMC School of Medicine, Alford completed her pediatrics residency in June of this year. She earned several honors as a student and resident, including election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and took on a variety of leadership roles. She has devoted many hours to volunteer service at the Medical Center and within the community. 

A member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Alford has several research projects or scientific publications to her credit. She is certified by the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and in pediatric advanced life support.

Dr. Steven J. Cialone

Dr. Steven J. Cialone, recently a physical therapist at NewSouth NeuroSpine in Flowood, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of physical therapy in the School of Health Related Professions. 

Cialone earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy at UMMC in 2020 after receiving a BS in Exercise Science at the University of Mississippi. His work experience includes more than two years at Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson as a PRN physical therapist, followed by four years at NewSouth NeuroSpine. His professional development courses include seminars on spinal evaluation and manipulation, and orthopaedic manual therapy. 

Cialone, who has been active in community service, has taken on leadership roles, including service as a member of the board of directors for the Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society.

Kenisha Giles Davis

Kenisha Giles Davis, a PRN nurse in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor of nursing in the School of Nursing. 

She received her BS in Nursing at Belhaven University in Jackson before earning her Master of Science in Nursing at UMMC in 2023. As a travel nurse, she worked at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas; Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas; Eastern Louisiana Mental Health Hospital in Jackson, Louisiana; and Advantage Medical Professionals in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  

Her work experience includes positions at Merit Health Rankin in Brandon and St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. 

She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society, and Black Nurses Rock Foundation and serves on the board of directors for a local nonprofit organization, Duke’s Pantry.
