New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Kylie Bond
Dr. Kylie Bond, recently a graduate extern in audiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in the School of Medicine.
Bond earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in 2022 and her Doctorate of Audiology (AuD) in 2024 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Before joining UMMC, she served as a student clinician at various institutions, including Barkley Memorial Center in Lincoln, Nebraska; Omaha Public Schools in Omaha, Nebraska; and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
She also gained relevant experience at the Concussion and Vestibular Evaluation Laboratory in Lincoln and at University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletic Medicine.

Dr. Mary Ball Markow
Dr. Mary Ball Markow, recently a pediatric emergency medicine fellow at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics-emergency medicine in the School of Medicine.
Markow, who is certified in general pediatrics, graduated from the UMMC School of Medicine in 2018 and completed her pediatrics residency at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., in 2021.
She has earned several academic and professional honors, including Department of Pediatrics Research Fellow of the Year at UMMC and the Emergency Department Award for Clinical Excellence by a Resident at Children’s National.
Markow, who has a number of scientific publications, presentations and lectures to her credit, is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. Elizabeth Picciola
Dr. Elizabeth Picciola, who recently completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine-hospital medicine in the School of Medicine.
After assisting in collecting data for cardio-renal disease clinical trials as a clinical research assistant in the Tulane University Office of Health Research in New Orleans, Louisiana, she earned her medical degree in 2021 at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport. She then completed her internal medicine residency at UMMC, which include Point-of-Care Ultrasound curriculum.
Picciola, who has a record of mentorship and volunteer service, has several research publications or presentations to her credit.
