New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff. 

Dr. Alyson Stacks Carraway

Dr. Alyson Stacks Carraway, recently a diagnostic radiology resident and neuroradiology fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of radiology in the School of Medicine. 

Carraway received her medical degree in 2017 from the UMMC School of Medicine, completed an internship in internal medicine in 2018, her diagnostic radiology residency in 2022 and neuroradiology fellowship in 2023. Previously, she gained work experience as a pharmacy technician, including two years as a lead pharmacy technician. 

As a trainee, Carraway took on several leadership roles and recently took on the role of associate program director for the diagnostic radiology residency. 

She is the co-author of a professional journal publication and has participated in several research presentations. She is an active member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and Radiological Society of North America, among others.  

Her missions and focus include mentoring and educating medical students and residents, and providing excellent patient care.

Dr. Justine Eve Maril B. Ibale

Dr. Justine Eve Maril B. Ibale, recently a pediatrics resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics-neonatology in the School of Medicine. 

She received her medical degree, as well as her Master of Science, at Saba University, Saba, Caribbean Netherlands, in 2020. She gained clinical experience at UMMC with observations at Children’s Medical Group and the NICU at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.  

Her memberships in professional organizations include those in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Mississippi State Medical Association, sections Academic Physicians and International Medical Graduates. 

Ibale is a member of the Resident Review Subcommittee and has participated in the Program Evaluation Committee for the Department of Pediatrics at UMMC. She is also involved in several teaching opportunities with UMMC’s medical students, such as IMP-1 Small Groups and M3 Problem Solving.

Dr. Elijah Rogers

Dr. Elijah Rogers, recently a diagnostic radiology resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor of radiology in the School of Medicine. 

Rogers, who graduated with his medical degree in 2018 from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan, Alabama, also holds a Master of Science in Adult Education from Troy University in Troy, Alabama.  

At the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, he gained teaching experience during his Anatomy/Osteopathic Principles and Practice Predoctoral Teaching Fellowship. During his residency at UMMC, he was named Resident Medical Student Teacher of the Year for 2019-2020.  

Rogers, who also has research experience, is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology, and Radiological Society of North America.

Dr. Joshua A. Trull

Dr. Joshua A. Trull, recently an adult psychiatry resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of psychiatry and human behavior in the School of Medicine. 

Trull, who graduated in 2019 from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, is the program designer and organizer of the UMMC Insight Summer Enrichment Program, an annual event that offers a medical education experience to high school students from medically underrepresented racial or ethnic groups.  

He gained further leadership experience as the chief resident  and chief ambassador in the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program and as a member of the program’s Evaluation Committee. He served for a year as a member of the program’s Mentorship Workgroup. He also served as member of the UMMC Office of Diversity and Inclusion DEI Think Tank. 

Trull has several research publications and presentations to his credit. He is a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi, the national osteopathic medicine honors fraternity, and several professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association and the American Psychiatric Association. 

Recently, he received the 2023 Robert S. Caldwell Memorial Award from the Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi.
