Campaign for Children’s of Mississippi has bright days ahead
Published on Wednesday, September 1, 2021
Dear friends and supporters,
The Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower at Children’s of Mississippi was opened for times such as these. When the Delta variant began to threaten children’s health, the state-of-the-art private pediatric
intensive care rooms inside the Sanderson Tower were ready.
Following the opening of the children’s hospital expansion, Children’s of Mississippi experts have been caring for a rising number of patients with all types of illnesses, includingCOVID-19 and the related Multisystem InflammatorySyndrome in Children. Through thousands of surgeries, tests and treatments, Children’s of Mississippi providers are helping children live healthier lives.
The Sanderson Tower will soon have been in servicea year, thanks to not only providers but also the generosity and caring of donors like you.
The fund to help pay for the children’s hospital expansion continues to grow, nearing its $100 million goal. The campaign got a boost in April during Twice as Bright, which doubled April donations up to $100,000.
A $100,000 gift to the campaign also came from BankPlus and Bill and Sara Ray in recognition of Tena McKenzie. Tena retired in April as executive director of Friends of Children’s Hospital after dedicating her career to supporting children’s health care in the state.
The 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship will tee up again this fall at the Country Club of Jackson. The state’s only PGA TOUR event broke its own giving records in 2020, donating $1.45 million to benefit Children’s of Mississippi. Spectators will be back for this year’s
tournament, and we can’t wait to watch!
Mark your calendar for the Sanderson Farms Championship, which tees off Sept. 27-Oct. 3. We hope to see you on the green.
