Hospital dental fellow joins Medical Center faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following addition to its faculty and leadership staff.

Leydi Katherine Ruiz Meneses, D.D.S.

Dr. Leydi Katherine Ruiz Meneses, recently a hospital dental fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of dentistry in the Department of Advanced General Dentistry.

After receiving her D.D.S. from Universidad Antonio Narino in Cucuta, Colombia, in 2011, Ruiz served as a general dentist at the Denticastilla Dental Clinic and at the Citydent Clinicas Dentales de Colombia, dental clinics in Bogota. She earned her M.P.H. with a concentration on behavioral health, promotion and education at Jackson State University in 2016, then had a general practice residency from 2017-18, advanced education in general dentistry from 2018-19, and a pair of hospital dental fellowships from 2019-21 at UMMC.

A member of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, Ruiz is an inductee of the Golden Key International Honor Society. She will be involved in both patient care and general dentistry resident education.
