Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Michael Nash Gleason
Dr. Michael Nash Gleason, recently an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, has joined the Medical Center faculty as a part-time assistant professor of emergency medicine.
Gleason, who graduated from the School of Medicine at UMMC in 2004, did his residency in emergency medicine at the Medical Center before joining Emergency Medicine Associates of Jackson at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
Three years later, in 2011, he joined Allied Emergency Services at St. Dominic, and became trauma medical director and chair of the Multidisciplinary Trauma Committee.
Board-certified in emergency medicine, Gleason has explored or written about such research topics as pericarditis and “Radiation Exposure of Astronauts during Extended Space Travel Missions.”
Dr. Spencer J. Montgomery
Dr. Spencer J. Montgomery, a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery.
Montgomery has a special interest in same-day-discharge hip and knee replacements, as well as complex and revision hip and knee replacements. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2014 from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he also completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery.
He then took part in the Biodesign Innovation fellowship at Stanford University followed by the Lower Extremity Reconstruction fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital through the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Montgomery is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and has numerous certifications and professional memberships. He is the recipient of a multitude of grants and awards, is the author or co-author of an array of peer-reviewed publications and has founded two start-up companies.
A strong proponent of multi-disciplinary care, Montgomery says he is looking forward to collaborating, assisting and learning from his new colleagues throughout the Medical Center.
