Doctor of Audiology joins Medical Center faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following addition to its faculty and leadership staff.

Dr. Ashley Anne McDonald, a recent Au. D. graduate of the University of Memphis School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of otolaryngology and communicative sciences.

A Phi Kappa Phi and Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society inductee, McDonald received her B.S. in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Mississippi in 2016. She went on to earn her Au. D. from UM in May. While pursuing her advanced degree, she gained clinical experience at the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center from 2016-19 and at UMMC from 2019-20, as well as other locations in the greater Memphis area.

McDonald is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. At the University of Memphis, she was an active member of the Student Academy of Audiology and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. She had a research graduate assistantship from 2018-19 at the University of Memphis and conducted a research project, “ABR Markers of Hidden Hearing Loss,” which she presented at the 49th annual Mid-South Conference on Communicative Disorders in Memphis in 2019.

McDonald's clinical interests include pediatric diagnostics and treatment, with a special interest in implantable devices.
