Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Sumana Ramarao, M.B.B.S.
Dr. Sumana Ramarao, recently a neonatal-perinatal fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.
After receiving her M.B.B.S. from the Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences, Narketpalle, India, in 2007, Ramarao entered the International Visiting Scholar Program of Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Florida, from 2008-09 and had a pediatric externship at Dulles Pediatric, Herndon, Virginia, in 2010. Ramarao had pediatrics residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, from 2011-14 and a neonatal-perinatal fellowship at UMMC from 2015-18.
A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and an instructor in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program at UMMC, Ramarao has served on numerous Medical Center committees. She has authored or coauthored two articles in peer-reviewed journals and eight posters presented at scientific meetings. She also has given four oral presentations nationally. Her research interest is in brain injury and neurodevelopment of preterm infants, along with quality improvement.
Lauren Michelle Rowe-Hobbs, M.D.
Dr. Lauren Michelle Rowe-Hobbs, recently a pediatric resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.
After receiving her B.A. in psychology summa cum laude and her B.A. in biochemistry summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2010, Rowe-Hobbs served as a research assistant in the Department of Psychiatry at UMMC for one year before earning her M.D. cum laude at UMMC in 2015. She served as a house officer in the Department of Pediatrics at UMMC from 2015-18.
A member of Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa, Rowe-Hobbs is the author or coauthor of two articles in peer-reviewed academic journals. She has given a pair of oral presentations at scientific meetings and has served on a number of committees at the Medical Center.
