'SOS' blood drive offers T-shirt, chance at parking space, $1,000

Participants in the Medical Center's quarterly blood drive scheduled from Monday-Thursday, June 25-28, will receive an "S.O.S. - Save Our Summer" T-shirt and will be registered for a drawing for a parking space on campus and for Mississippi Blood Services' drawing for $1,000.

The winner of the parking space drawing will be randomly selected from among all UMMC faculty, staff and students who participate in the blood drive. The winner will have parking privileges in a designated campus parking space for the quarter beginning Monday, July 2. 

MBS is giving away $1,000 to a randomly selected blood donor each week between May 28-Aug. 18. Participants in UMMC's blood drive will automatically qualify for MBS's June 25-29 drawing.

The UMMC blood drive is scheduled from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, June 25-26, in the MBS donor coach between the Guyton Research Center and the Z Building; from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, in the MBS donor coach on the Bailey Avenue side of the Jackson Medical Mall; and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, in the MBS donor coach at the University Hospital entrance.

Photo identification is required to donate. MBS suggests all donors eat within four hours of giving blood and drink plenty of fluids before and after the donation.
