Postdoc fellow to review ischemia, reperfusion strategy

Dr. Xuan Li, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, will give the Department of Physiology and Biophysics presentation, "The Metabolic Regulation is a Strategy to Limit Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury," from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Texas orthopaedist to give Freeland Lecture, kick off Resident Research Day

Dr. Milton Lee "Chip" Routt Jr., Dr. Andrew R. Burgess Endowed Chair and Professor of Othopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston, will give the Alan E. Freeland Research Lecture Series presentation, "Pelvic and Acetabular Update 2018," during the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation's annual Resident Research Day from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, June 1, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Psychiatry professor to investigate neuroinflammatory mechanisms

Dr. Craig Stockmeier, professor of psychiatry and director of the Division of Neurobiology and Behavioral Research, will give the Psychiatry Grand Rounds presentation, "Are Neuroinflammatory Mechanisms at Play in Depression?" at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, in room CW106 of the Classroom Wing.

Physiology professor to discuss computer simulation

Robert L. Hester, professor of physiology, interim chair of the Department of Data Sciences and director of the Center for Computational Medicine, will give the Population Health Grand Rounds presentation, "Use of Computer Simulation to Understand Population Responses to Therapy," from noon-1 p.m. on Monday, June 4, in the fourth floor conference room of the research center.

Dr. Doug Barrick, professor of biophysics at Johns Hopkins University, will give the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology presentation, "The Consensus Approach as a Means to Create Hyper-Stable Functional Proteins," at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, in classroom 3A.

Case Western obesity expert to review therapeutic approaches

Dr. Bartolome Burguera, professor of medicine, director of obesity programs and executive medical director of the National Obesity and Diabetes Research Center at Tradition, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, will present "Interdisciplinary Therapeutic Approach to Severe Obesity" at noon on Thursday, June 14, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

The presentation is sponsored by the Mississippi Center for Obesity Research, the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research and the Cardiorenal and Metabolic Diseases Research Center.
