KiOsha Diggs, M.S.N.
Diggs
KiOsha Diggs, a clinical research nurse in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as a part-time instructor in nursing.
After receiving her B.S.N. magna cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2010, Diggs joined UMMC as a staff nurse in the ob-gyn department. She earned her M.S.N. at the Medical Center in 2013 and became a clinical research nurse in 2014.
Diggs' research interests include treatment advances in gynecology and obstetrics, as well as educator readiness in relation to childhood obesity.
Matthew Emery Kutcher, M.D.
Kutcher
Dr. Matthew E. Kutcher, a recent trauma and acute care surgery fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of surgery.
After receiving his B.A. in biochemistry from Harvard College in 2002, Kutcher earned his M.D. at the Tufts University School of Medicine in 2007. He completed general surgery residency from 2007-14 at the University of California, San Francisco, then went to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2014 for a critical care medicine fellowship, followed by his trauma and acute care surgery fellowship.
The author or coauthor of 27 articles in peer-reviewed professional publications, two book chapters and four poster presentations, Kutcher has given seven lectures at scientific meetings nationally. An active member of the American College of Surgeons and the Pediatric Trauma Society, Kutcher's research interests include coagulopathy in trauma and critical illness, rescue of patients with surgical complications, therapeutic hypothermia and surgical outcomes.
Christina G. Marks, M.D.
Marks
Dr. Christina G. Marks has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of radiology.
After receiving her B.S. in mathematics and economics from Millsaps College in 2005, Marks earned her M.D. in 2009 at UMMC, where she was editor of The Murmur monthly student magazine and class treasurer. She was awarded ASB student of the year in 2009. At UMMC, she completed an internal medicine internship from 2009-10 followed by a diagnostic radiology residency from 2010-14. She completed a breast imaging and intervention fellowship at George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 2015. She completed a vascular and interventional radiology fellowship at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2016.
Recipient of the 2014 Robert S. Caldwell, M.D. Memorial Award, Marks is the author or coauthor of two articles in peer-reviewed professional publications and three poster presentations.
