Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming week at the Medical Center.

Tuesday, Dec. 13

Dental student, faculty to give Grand Rounds presentation

Adam Roye, dentistry student, will present “Management of an Aberrant Maxillary Labial Frenum in Conjunction with Orthodontic Therapy” and Dr. Michael Roach, associate professor of dentistry in the Department of Biomedical Materials Science, will present “Surface Factors Influencing Bacterial Attachment and Bone Integration for Titanium Implant Materials” as part of Dental Grand Rounds at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in classroom R153 (lower amphitheatre).

Michigan pharmacologist to talk brain changes, obesity

Dr. Carrie Ferrario, assistant professor of pharmacology at the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, will present “Why Did I Eat That? Changes in Brain and Behavior That Contribute to Obesity" from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in classroom 4A (room 413 on the North Wing).

Internal medicine expert to investigate leptin controversies

Dr. Angela Subauste, associate professor of internal medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, will give the Physiology Seminar Series presentation, “Leptin Therapy: Advances and Controversies,” from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Thursday, Dec. 15

JHS chief science officer candidate to give presentation

Dr. Mario Sims, associate professor of medicine, associate director of research training for the Jackson Heart Study and chief science officer candidate for the JHS, will present "Social and Psychological Determinants of Cardiovascular Disease among African-Americans," from 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, in the Rowan Oak Conference Room of the Jackson Medical Mall Conference Center.

Holiday Village judging, reception to bring festive air to UH

Winners of the University Hospitals and Health Systems Holiday Village will be revealed at a holiday reception scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, in the lower lobby of University Hospital.

Santa Claus will announce the winner of the competition and refreshments will be available at the reception. The village will remain on display through Wednesday, Jan. 4.
