Franco H. Cabeza Rivera, M.D.
Cabeza Rivera
Dr. Franco H. Cabeza Rivera, recently a transplant nephrology fellow at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine - Jackson Memorial Hospital, has joined the Medical Center faculty as a professor of medicine.
After receiving his degree in medicine and surgery from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru, he completed internal medicine residency at the University of Miami from 2009-12. Subsequently, he completed a nephrology fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine from 2012-14; a geriatric medicine fellowship from 2014-15 and a transplant nephrology fellowship from 2015-16 at the University of Miami.
A diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cabeza Rivera is the coauthor of three articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and seven other abstracts. An active member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Transplantation and the Transplantation Society, Cabeza Rivera has given more than 15 invited lectures nationally.
Youssef Al Hmada, M.D.
Al Hmada
Dr. Youssef Al Hmada, recently a pathology resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor in pathology.
After receiving his M.D. from the University of Tishreen, Syrian Arab Republic, in 2003, Al Hmada had residency training in clinical pathology at Aleppo University, Syrian Arab Republic, from 2003-08. He served as a clinical pathologist at the Mobaid Medical Laboratory, Al-Rahameh Hospital, Aleppo, from 2008-11, before coming to the Medical Center in 2012 for residency training in pathology.
An active member of the Syrian American Medical Society, the College of American Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, Al Hmada is the coauthor of three articles in peer-reviewed scientific publications.
