DOM recognizes faculty, trainees at research event

The Department of Medicine hosted its annual Research Day event on April 12 in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union.

Department of Medicine trainees and faculty presented posters in the gymnasium. In addition, second- and third-year students from the Medical Student Research Program (MSRP) presented posters, while fourth-year MSRP students gave oral presentations.

Dr. Gailen Marshall, professor of medicine and pediatrics and chair of the Division of Allergy and Immunology, presented the keynote address on the Precision Medicine Initiative.

After Marshall's lecture, the following faculty and trainees received awards for their accomplishments in the laboratory:

Fred Allison Research Excellence Award:
Dr. Adolfo Correa, professor of medicine and pediatrics, Director of the Jackson Heart Study

Herbert Langford Research Mentor Award:
Dr. Gwen Windham, professor of medicine (geriatrics)

Stanley Chapman Young Investigator Research Excellence Award:
Dr. Licy Yanes Cardozo, assistant professor of medicine (endocrinology)

MSRP Poster Award:
Boshen Liu, M3

MSRP Oral Presentation Award:
Brittany Simpson, M4

Department of Medicine Poster Awards:
