University of Mississippi Medical Center researchers garnered 39 grants - including six new, 31 renewal (two competing renewal), one supplement and one transfer - in April totaling $13,331,134.

Dr. Wael M. Elshamy, associate professor of biochemistry at the UMMC Cancer Institute, received a $344,040 grant from the National Cancer Institute for the project, "Bi-directional Interactions with Tumor Microenvironment Enhance BRCA1-IRIS Overexpressing TNBC Tumor Cells Aggressiveness."
