Maryland pediatrician, UMMC alum join Medical Center faculty

The Medical Center is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff:

 

Kimberly A. Bibb, M.D.

Dr. Kimberly A. Bibb, a seasoned private practice physician, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of family medicine.

After receiving the B.S. in biology summa cum laude from Tougaloo College in 1999, Bibb earned the M.D. at UMMC in 2003. She had residency training in family medicine at the University of Alabama Medical Center, Huntsville, from 2003-06.

Site director at Vicksburg-Warren Family Health Care from 2006-07, Bibb also has served as a staff physician and in private practice in the Jackson-metro area for seven years. She owned and operated her medical practice, Bibb Family Medicine, for the last two years.

She is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians and the National Medical Association.

Julie Daina Kaplan, M.D.

Dr. Julie Daina Kaplan, assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an associate professor of pediatrics.

After receiving her B.S. in biology magna cum laude from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Catonsville, in 2000, Kaplan earned her M.D. at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, in 2004. She did a pediatrics internship and residency from 2004-07 at St. Louis Children's Hospital, Washington University, Missouri, and a medical genetics residency from 2007-09 at Stanford University, California.

After her residency training, Kaplan joined the University of Maryland School of Medicine faculty in 2009 and served as medical director of the Newborn Screening Follow-up Program in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in Baltimore from 2009-12.

An active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Medical Genetics, Kaplan has authored or coauthored five articles in peer-reviewed professional publications, one web-based journal article and 10 abstracts or presentations.
