The Best 5k in Town!

We are excited to share that Alzheimer’s Mississippi has now permanently joined The MIND Center to expand services, programs, and support initiatives across Mississippi for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Because of this new partnership, we have combined two of the state’s premier 5k races, the Brawn and Bubbles 5k Run for the Brain and the Run Now Wine Later 5k

The proceeds of this combined race, the Brawn and Bubbles Run Now Wine Later 5k, will accelerate The MIND Center’s leading-edge Alzheimer’s research here in Mississippi and help to expand dementia-care services across the state. After careful consideration and in accordance with MSDH and CDC guidelines, this year’s race will offer a limited in-person option as well as a virtual option. Multiple COVID-19 safety precautions will be in place on race day to ensure our runners, volunteers, and supporters are protected including mask-wearing and maintaining a distance of six feet between people of different households.

In an abundance of caution and in lieu of a 5k after-party, an “add-on” option will be available to runners at registration to attend the “Art, Wine, and Wheels” Kick-off Party which is hosted by Visit Ridgeland and will be held directly adjacent to the finish area immediately after the race.

Now more than ever, it is critical that groundbreaking research to uncover the potential risk factors that lead to Alzheimer’s and other dementias continues. As we have learned over the last few months, the population at highest risk to succumb to COVID-19 is older adults, particularly those residing in long-term care facilities where many residents are currently suffering with some form of dementia.
