Biography: Andrew C. Voluse, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). He graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University and completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University. He then completed both his internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Boston Consortium (comprised of Harvard Medical School, Boston University School of Medicine, and the Boston VA Healthcare System). Dr. Voluse spent nearly a decade working within the VA Healthcare System in various leadership and clinical roles. During this time, he was the program manager for a residential Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) treatment program and the director of training for the postdoctoral fellowship program. He also served as a national consultant and trainer for the VA’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for SUDs program as well. At UMMC, he is co-director of the university’s Center for Innovation and Discovery in Addictions (CIDA), is the Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs, and is the chair of the Research Training Oversight Committee. Dr. Voluse has received research funding from the following institutions: SAMHSA, DHHS, HRSA, and the VA. He has also received UMMC's Excellence in Research Award. His clinical and research interests and expertise include SUDs in underrepresented and underserved populations, SUD comorbidities, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.
