Fertility Services

For some couples, becoming pregnant is a challenge. Infertility is the inability to get pregnant despite having frequent, unprotected sex for at least a year. Ten to 15 percent of couples in the United States are infertile. Although many couples are really sub-fertile rather than infertile, they are often considered infertile when they haven't conceived despite trying for one year.

A year of trying is usually the point to start seeking medical support, as the monthly chance of pregnancy is four percent or less after one year. Faster evaluation may be appropriate for women over the age of 35, when there are known medical conditions that interfere with fertility or if trying to conceive causes significant stress.

Since its inception, UMMC Fertility Services has been on the leading edge of fertility and reproductive medicine. Our knowledge of the latest in vitro techniques and advancements allows us to constantly improve our service to hopeful couples. Our state-of-the-art facility and laboratory equipment allow us to produce the best embryos possible. We also offer advanced techniques such as: pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGT-D) to test embryos genetically prior to transfer; blastocyst transfer, which has allowed us to decrease multiple pregnancies while maintaining outstanding pregnancy rates; and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) to treat even the most difficult male factor infertility cases.

Reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialists at University Women’s Care are here to help by offering the latest reproductive technologies and procedures to enhance the possibility of conception. Infertility can involve one or both partners. In fact, the incidence of sperm problems is on the rise, accounting for up to half of infertility causes, according to some studies. In other instances, couples want to plan ahead to ensure fertility after a disease such as cancer.

Our empathetic care team not only includes obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) physicians with subspecialty board certification in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI), but also provides broad support from nursing, embryology, financial counseling and other backgrounds. They understand the physical, emotional and financial toll that infertility can have on anyone who wishes to conceive.

Working together, we specialize in determining the cause of fertility challenges and offering the most effective treatment options. We provide a full range of services depending on your needs. These can include counseling, inseminations, ovulation induction, superovulation, in vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, pre-implantation genetic counseling and screening, and more.
