Children’s neurosurgeons are a type of pediatric surgeon who specializes in surgically treating a variety of brain, spinal cord and central nervous system conditions for children of all ages. Experts in leading-edge treatments and complicated procedures, our children’s neurosurgeons provide the specialized care needed by children with neurological concerns.
If advanced care is needed, neurosurgeons work in collaboration with a team of expert subspecialists through UMMC’s Center for Maternal and Fetal Care. This multidisciplinary team works together to care for both the mother and child’s unique needs - all under one roof.
The Center for Maternal and Fetal Care draws on the Children's of Mississippi pediatric neurosurgery program to offer compassionate and comprehensive care for children with brain, spinal cord and central nervous system conditions. Newborn care includes the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), surgical suites equipped with newborn-appropriate instruments and comprehensive support services for the hospitalized newborn.
Following hospital discharge, Children's of Mississippi offers a wide range of multidisciplinary clinics for ongoing care. UMMC's pediatric neurosurgery care team includes Mississippi’s only board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon.
