Biography

Dr. Morgan is a secret Marvel superhero & comic book fan extraordinaire. He is a Jackson native and loves the area & people so much that he never considered leaving. He completed his undergraduate degree at Belhaven University and continued his training at UMMC for both medical school & Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency. He served as a chief resident for Pediatrics and has since been on staff as a jack of all trades at UMMC working in the inpatient & outpatient divisions of Internal Medicine & Pediatrics, serving as co-course director for the Introduction to Medical Profession I class, and now as an Assistant Program Director of Pediatrics. He enjoys the challenge and fulfillment of taking care of a disadvantaged population and improving not only the health but health literacy of a population that he’s grown to care for throughout his entire life. He thrives off the opportunity for student & resident education, helping others to become fantastic doctors.

He recharges with time with his family & friends, reading books. He is a superhero aficionado, astronomy nerd, and lover of all the wonderful Jackson food scene.

Community Service

Pediatric Community Service Commitee, I act as faculty mentor for the Resident Community Service Committee, and as such I have helped to organize fundraisers for local scholarship organizations, organize book drives for our continuity clinic, and coordinate food drives for local churches. Black Men in White Coats, I participated in a panel of minority physicians who spoke to a select group of over 50 middle- and high-school age children on the challenges of medical training and need for improved minority representation in the medical field. MBP Radio Show-Southern Remedy, I have acted as recurring guest for an hour-long radio show on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MBP) network that broadcasts statewide in MS. During the program, we discussed various medical topics related to adolescent and adult healthcare, such as hypertension, vaccinations, and diabetes.
