In Memoriam

Mr. Jan Harrison Loflin passed away on November 7, 2020. He was 84.

Haiyan Zhang Retires

Ms. Haiyan Zhang retired at the end of June 2020 after serving as the Laboratory Manager of the Analytical and Assay Core for the Department of Physiology and Biophysics for over 28 years.

Hero Awards augment annual research excellence honors

The Medical Center's 2020 Excellence in Research Awards went to faculty based on the cumulative extramural funding they received for original research. This year, due to the unique research needs wrought by the pandemic, UMMC also granted COVID-19 Research Hero Awards to scientists who stepped up during an unprecedented time in health care.

Working together on the Guyton and Hall Textbook of Medical Physiology for the first time, Dr. John Hall, left, and his son, Dr. Michael Hall, updated the classic volume, producing its 14th edition.
