Division of Newborn Medicine
Welcome to the Children's of Mississippi Center for Newborn Medicine and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We are part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and are located in Children's of Mississippi and the Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants.
The Center for Newborn Medicine provides services to all newborns in the state of Mississippi. It includes the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care Nursery, Newborn Nursery and Mother-Baby Unit. Our team of neonatologists, subspecialists and neonatal staff provide state-of-the-art care to all newborns - ranging from those critically ill to well babies just born in our Labor and Delivery Suites.
The NICU is the only Level IV NICU in Mississippi. We provide the highest level of care and services to all neonates in Mississippi and surrounding states. Services include pediatric surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, ECMO, whole body cooling for HIE and high-risk maternal-fetal medicine delivery. We have more than 1,000 admissions each year with a third of these patients referredĀ from outside hospitals and transported into our NICU in Jackson.
We also transport babies throughout Mississippi and surrounding states to our NICU utilizing our Newborn Transport Team. Our neonatologists provide on-site/in-hospital coverage 24/7 and work with a multidisciplinary team to provide the latest standard of care in neonatal intensive care to all critically ill newborns.
