Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides first-rate care to all women and serves as the leader in education and research in the region.

The residency program is recognized as one of the finest in the region, training the majority of obstetricians and gynecologists in Mississippi. It offers experience in caring for some of the most challenging obstetrical patients, as well as vast experience in gynecologic surgery, at the Winfred L. Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants and the University Center for Maternal and Fetal Care.

Wiser Hospital is the primary referral site for the most complicated obstetrical and gynecologic patients and has the only dedicated women’s emergency/urgent care unit in the state. The Center for Maternal and Fetal Care provides collaborative care between maternal-fetal medicine specialists and pediatric specialists and surgeons and is the only unit for advanced diagnosis and treatment in the state.

All subspecialties are represented, including maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrine and infertility, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, as well as minimally invasive surgery and advanced obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound.
