Division of General Internal Medicine
General internists are recognized as experts in diagnosis, treatment of chronic illness, comprehensive health promotion, and disease prevention. Our division routinely conducts wellness visits, acute care sick visits, as well as visits for patients with medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, sleep apnea, and other chronic conditions. At UMMC, our general internal medicine specialists are backed by the full resources of Mississippi's only academic medical center, including consultation with in-house specialists found nowhere else in the state. From common joint pain to rare diseases, our internal medicine doctors can arrange for your care if you need expertise for specific concerns. Our team includes attending physicians, internal medicine resident physicians, and nurse practitioners.
Message from Our Division Director
The Division of General Internal Medicine is part of the Department of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, an academic medical center and teaching hospital charged with training the next generation of physicians. Our division provides care for patients both in the hospital and ambulatory settings such as UMMC Pavilion, LB Building, and Grants Ferry locations; education to medical students and residents including services within the University Hospital on three of our inpatient teaching services; and scholarship related to medical education, hypertension, and sleep apnea, just to name a few.
MORE"It is truly a blessing to be a part of such a gifted and supportive group as the Division of General Medicine. These talented individuals enrich my life every day that I work with them. In addition, it is incredibly rewarding to have so many opportunities to be involved in the education of our trainees. I really appreciate the multiple facets of this Division, while still being able to provide care for the citizens of Mississippi."
