The Division of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology in the Department of Medicine is committed to all three aspects of the academic mission of our department and institution – research and scholarship, education and patient care. All faculty members are engaged in various aspects of all three parts of the academic mission.
Our scholarly activity is wide and diverse in the area of allergy, asthma and immunology. Research foci include assessment of psychological dysfunction as a component of the pathophysiology of various allergic and immune diseases such as asthma and chronic allergic skin diseases. Opportunities exist for investigation in all aspects of the translational research spectrum from bench assessment of biomarkers to clinical trials to population epidemiology-based studies.
"The Clinical Immunology and Allergy division fosters a work environment that focuses on the University's three missions: patient care, education, and research. As a faculty member, I feel supported in participating in all three areas. The fellowship training program is a strength of our division, and I find great fulfillment in being the fellowship Program Director. The faculty, fellows, nurses, and ancillary staff are like family, which is a testament to the warm, hospitality seen in Mississippi."
