Welcome New Residents and Fellows

We are excited to announce our new residents and fellows who will be joining UMMC Dermatology. Drs. Sally McClung, Benjamin Rushing, Robert Quiring, Emily Sauce, and Katherine Tretting will join UMMC as dermatology residents in the summer of 2023 after completing their PGY1 year. Drs. Teel Liddell, Luke Wallis, and Alex Noble will also join (or remain with) UMMC Dermatology in the summer of 2022. Please join us in welcoming these excellent candidates!

Southern Dermatology Consortium Resident Research Day

This year’s Resident Research Day was hosted by UMMC and held on February 5, 2022, at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in Ridgeland, MS. Multiple engaging topics were presented by residents from the dermatology programs at University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC).

Faculty and Resident Awards, Honors, and Distinguished Presentations

Dr. Vinayak Nahar, associate professor, recently received a 2022 Trailblazers Teaching Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education. In addition, several other faculty members and residents received various awards and honors. Please join us in congratulating our faculty and residents for their hard work and outstanding accomplishments!

Research Corner

Research activities are getting a boost at UMMC with the addition of Thy Huynh, MD, doing double duty as our pediatric dermatologist and inaugural medical director establishing a dedicated Dermatology Clinical Trials Unit. Drs. Huynh and Vinayak Nahar are working to grow our research enterprise to support our three-part mission of health care, research, and education.
