Twentieth edition of The Pulse

This edition marks the twentieth edition of our departmental newsletter, The Pulse. The next edition will mark the end of seven years of sending these newsletters out three times a year which is hard to believe! It might just be the time of year, but I cannot help but look back over these editions and reminisce about how far our department has come.

Serving our community

Over the last six months, our department has participated in numerous acts of community service. We all give of ourselves tirelessly while at work but our impact does not just exist at the hospital and with our patients. As a group our impact should go much further than that; indeed it should deeply affect our community as well.

Departmental scholarly activity

As the only academic medical center in the state of Mississippi, our department works tirelessly in the area of anesthesiology research. We routinely have strong resident, nurse anesthetist, and faculty participation on the state and national level at numerous academic meetings and conferences every year. We would like to recognize and thank our physician scientists and nurse anesthetists who have published research and case reports recently.

Showing our creative side

We know that we have an excellent team to provide the best possible anesthesia care for patients in the state of Mississippi through UMMC. Anesthesia is our profession, but we want to share your passion for bringing a little joy and improving our wellness.

Where are they now?

The Department of Anesthesiology has always had such wonderful people who have contributed to make it what it is today. We would like to know what some of our colleagues and friends who have moved on are doing now and how UMMC played a role in their careers and lives.
