The 22nd annual fundraiser brought patients, families, health care providers, sponsors, broadcasters and listeners together for two days to share stories of the importance of the state’s only children’s hospital. Since 2001, Mississippi Miracles Radiothon listeners and sponsors have contributed nearly $8 million to the care and comfort of Children’s of Mississippi patients and families.

At the University of Mississippi Medical Center, caregivers strive every day to keep patients safe from harm. Success stories from across the Medical Center campus will be heralded as UMMC today begins Patient Safety Week with the theme Chasing Zero: Racing Toward Safety.

Focus groups will get together starting March 14 to bolster UMMC as a premier outlet for health care, place to work.

The inspiration for starting the Medical Genetics Student Interest Group could be loosely traced back to one student’s encounters with alarming arachnids. But the impulse that informs its work is definitively human, including as it does some members who could one day be the hope of children with rare diseases.

Members of a select group of educators from across UMMC’s schools got to know one another during a guided tour of the Mississippi Museum of Art’s most intriguing current exhibits.

Medical Center faculty and staff often are recognized regionally, nationally and internationally for achievements. These accolades place UMMC among health science centers worldwide.
