Biography

Victoria Gholar, DNP, RN, PMH-BC, is the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and an Assistant Professor at the John D. Bower School of Population Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Alcorn State University and both a Master of Science in Nursing and Health Care Administration and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Dr. Gholar serves as the Executive Director of the Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities. In this role, she focuses on advancing health equity through the Institute’s three pillars: clinical care, community-engaged research, and education. Her work emphasizes community engagement, public policy advocacy, fostering collaborations, enhancing research and workforce development, and translating research into practice.

A board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Registered Nurse and a Lifestyle Change Coach with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Diabetes Prevention Program, Dr. Gholar brings extensive expertise to the field of population health. Her current research concentrates on promoting health equity in populations experiencing health disparities, improving the structural competency of healthcare providers, and building an evidence base for social determinants of health interventions.
