Biography: Dr. Rodney Kipchumba earned a Bachelor of Science in biological engineering, summa cum laude, from Mississippi State University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed his internship in internal medicine at UMMC and his anesthesiology residency at Mass General Brigham in Boston.
Kipchumba has been recognized for his academic excellence and commitment to anesthesiology throughout training. In medical school, he received the Leonard W. Fabian Award from the UMMC Department of Anesthesiology for outstanding achievement as a senior medical student earning multiple merit-based scholarships and research honors, including first place in the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society's Annual Research Competition in the Clinical Science Division. Upon graduating, he received the 2026 Distinguished Resident award given to a resident who exemplifies clinical and academic excellence, a passion for learning, a depth of humanism, and an unparalleled sense of community, spirit, and citizenship.
Kipchumba has returned to Mississippi as an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and is eager to continue serving the people of Mississippi.
