Robertson, Hess M., M.D.

Specialties: Critical Care Anesthesiology

Gender: Male

Biography: I was born and raised in Moss Point, Mississippi. I had a well-rounded upbringing, but I was not exposed to medicine. My father taught high school shop class, and my mother worked as an engineer at the local shipyard. I attended Mississippi State University for my undergraduate degree in biological engineering, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Engineering course work came naturally to me, and I enjoyed the problem solving aspect most engineering classes presented. I still use those skills on a daily basis working in the ICU and the OR. I then attended medical school here at UMMC, graduating in 2010. I did my internship and residency in anesthesiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (2010-2014). I stayed on there as a staff anesthesiologist while my wife did her pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Arkansas Children's Hospital. I then went to the Cleveland Clinic to do a fellowship in critical care anesthesiology (2015-2016). My wife and I both felt the call to return home to Mississippi to be around family and to provide care to fellow Mississippians. I currently split my clinical time at UMMC between the surgical intensive care unit and providing anesthesia in the operating room.

My Approach to Healthcare
