Barbara S. Craft, MD
Specialties: Hematology/Oncology, Breast Cancers
Gender: Female
Biography: A family member who died of cancer led Dr. Craft to oncology, but the patients she treats every day keep her there. Medicine was a long time interest for the Long Beach native. "I liked oncology in medical school but also had personal reasons," she said. Having practiced in this field for several years, she turns to her patients for inspiration. As part of the University Cancer Care team, Dr. Craft chairs the Breast Conference each week where physicians gather to discuss current patient issues, work with clinical trials and do research on drugs which treat breast cancer. She is an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Oncology, director of the Breast Cancer Treatment and Prevention Program and Cancer Institute Medical Director for University Physicians. Dr. Craft also serves on the Jackson Leadership Council with the American Cancer Society as the chair of the Quality of Life committee, she sits on the Board for the Komen Foundation, and is a sustaining member of the Jackson Cancer League. She is married to Dr. Jason Craft, an orthopedic surgeon, and has two children.
