Biography: Dr. Mohammad Atari is a nephrologist with specialized training in both general and transplant nephrology. Born in Kuwait and raised in Syria, he earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University. He later moved to Amman, Jordan, where he completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Jordan, one of the country’s most prestigious training programs, and served as co-chief resident in his final year.
Dr. Atari continued his medical training in the United States, completing fellowships in general nephrology and transplant nephrology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he served as chief fellow for two years. In 2021, he joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) as a clinical nephrologist with dual roles in general nephrology and transplant nephrology. He is deeply involved in medical education, bedside teaching, and scholarly mentorship.
He is the recipient of the Master Clinician Award (2024) in recognition of his clinical excellence and the Poster Mentor Award (2025) for his commitment to trainee research and academic development.
