Biography: Growing up in small town Mississippi, I never dreamed I would be doing what I do today. As a child, I remember playing school and wanting to be a teacher. Now I get to educate future physicians while also caring for the people of Mississippi from the very young to the geriatrics population and all patients in between both in the inpatient and ambulatory settings. In my role as an educator here at UMMC, one of my greatest joys is getting to teach medical students and residents and be a part of their paths to becoming the future physicians that care for the people of Mississippi!
My Approach to Healthcare
“As a physician in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics, I am able to see patients from infancy through childhood and adolescence and in to adulthood. The main focus of my own practice is the primary care of adults; however, I am actively involved in the care of patients of all ages with our Med-Peds residents in their continuity clinic. In a partnered approach, I develop treatment plans with my patients for their chronic diseases while also focusing on elements related to their healthcare maintenance. I believe that having open communication with my patients develops a relationship that enhances their attitude towards their health.”
