Melanie N. Truong-Le, DO, OD

Specialties: Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Ophthalmology

Gender: Female

Biography: I went to medical school to become a "DOOD". That word is a clever play and a hint of a transformative process. I was born during the end of the Viet Nam war, and my parents were stricken with the struggle and after math of a war, that required fleeing a home they loved and family they would come to miss throughout the rest of their lives. All for the hope that I and my siblings have a better life. Thanks to them I came to the United States driven to make a difference. I was raised in Kansas and later went to school to become an optometrist. I sought for most of my life to be an educator, and through that I loved learning. As a result, I practiced optometry for 10 years and returned to school after the death of a family member due to a neurologic condition and I aimed to become a neurologist. I completed medical school and trained to become a neurologist and with my passion for both ophthalmology and neurology, I trained in neuro-ophthalmology. Highly specialized in ophthalmology and neurology, I am passionate about the love of the two fields and feel very privileged to be able to provide the best I can for those who need this specialty, which is in high demand.

My Approach to Healthcare

My approach to patient care is to be individualized and realize that it is such a privilege to be present for another person's vulnerabilities. That is a level of trust that is given without reservation, and I do not take it lightly. I truly enjoy understanding the pathophysiology of diseases & health and work diligently to explain things that appear complex and hard to decipher. I enjoy that challenge like I enjoy learning math and finding a solution to a problem that seems unsurmountable. I believe that the key to any patient care is the "presence" and I seek to be present for all of my patients and the people in my life. It is that simple.
