In 2014, Dr. Tarver continued her work in community emergency medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when her husband became stationed as an Air Force V-22 Instructor Pilot at Kirtland Air Force Base. In 2018, Dr. Tarver and her family moved from New Mexico to Mississippi, their home of origin. Since that time, she has served as an educator and clinical faculty member within the Department of Emergency Medicine at her alma mater, the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). In June 2022, Dr. Tarver completed a simulation fellowship at UMMC. My Approach to Healthcare
Exceptional patient care begins with exceptional training. Healthcare is a team sport, and it takes all members of this interprofessional team to deliver exceptional care. Learning in healthcare is a lifelong journey. It doesn't end with that diploma.
Healthcare training at UMMC prepares our providers to become leaders in both education and patient care. Simulation has become a cornerstone of healthcare education, where providers at every experience level can learn, make mistakes and improve their craft. I completed a simulation fellowship at UMMC from 2020-2022 because I believe in the effectiveness of this training modality as a critical adjunct to learning in the clinical environment. At UMMC we care for some of the sickest patients in this country. As always, our patients remain our greatest teachers. As lifelong learners, we will better serve them in the manner in which they deserve.
