Biography: I am a first-generation physician who was thrust into Medicine by sheer desire, and not through some Uncle or Aunt who worked in Medicine. In my junior year of high school, I fell in love with the human body and have continued to fall in love with it over and over again. In 2003, a Master’s degree at the University of London, opened the limitless vistas of a research based Clinical practice to me. I saw in that great institution, professors who though clinically trained had dedicated their lives to finding cures, answers and solutions to some of the world’s greatest medical questions. I, therefore, decided to devote myself to research in Medicine at any opportunity I got. I wrote eleven clinical case reports in my residency years, and continued in active research after residency even while in the public and private practice. My transition to research was, however, consummated with my appointment at the University of Mississippi Medical center. My quest, therefore, as a clinical researcher is to explore the deepest frontiers of medical knowledge and train others to follow suit. I am happily married to Rita Momah, an employee of the Mississippi Department of Health, and have one set of twin children.
My Approach to Healthcare
I am an advocate of a patient centered Medical healthcare system. I believe every patient knows better than anyone else what exactly is wrong with them, and if skillfully guided can lead the provider to their diagnosis. To achieve this in my clinical practice, I have incorporated the patient in decision making on their own health. The result is an empowered patient clientele, and a physician that is excited to see such empowered patients. This format also decreases the risk of burn out among physicians.
