Biography: Varsha Manucha, M.D., is a Professor in the Anatomic Pathology at The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). She earned her MD from Lady Harding Medical College, Delhi University in India, and, completed her residency training in Boston University followed by fellowships in Surgical Pathology with Dr. Steven Silverberg and Cytopathology at the University of Maryland. Dr. Manucha is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology.
At UMMC, Dr. Manucha is division director of cytopathology and section chief of Head and Neck pathology and Urologic pathology subspecialty sections.
Dr. Manucha’s expertise and research interest is in non-Gynecologic cytology, Head and Neck/Salivary gland, and Urologic pathology. Dr. Manucha's significant contributions to head and neck cancer patient care have earned her the Consultant of the Year Award from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. She has conducted microscopic workshops in the Annual meetings of the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC) and conducts teaching sessions (didactic and glass slides) for pathology residents in Delhi, India. She is an active member of the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC), College of American Pathologists (CAP) Cytopathology Committee and United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) abstract review board in the Genitourinary Pathology category. She has recently been elected to the CAP House of Delegates.
Dr. Manucha leads the See Test and Treat program at UMMC, providing free cervical and breast cancer screenings. Her exceptional contributions have earned her prestigious accolades, including the distinguished Patient Care Award and Herbek humanitarian award from the College of American Pathologists.
Dr. Manucha is passionate about the practice of patient-centric pathology, quality improvement/assurance in surgical pathology and cytopathology. Dr. Manucha is committed to provide quality and timely diagnostic pathology services and extend her knowledge to the pathologists of tomorrow.
Outside the hospital, she enjoys painting, reading, hiking and spending time with her family. Currently she is delving into reading philosophy and understanding the complexities of life.
