Biography: Kimberly Crowder, M.D., Professor and Chairman for the Department of Ophthalmology, is a board certified surgeon in Comprehensive Ophthalmology. She is a long standing member of the Jackson community and received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). She also completed her Ophthalmology Residency at UMMC. Dr. Crowder has been a faculty member at UMMC since beginning her ophthalmology practice in 2003. During the course of her career, she has been honored with many recognitions and professional awards, including the UMMC Ophthalmology Attending of the Year (twice) and most recently as the 2020 UMMC Helen Barnes, M.D. Diversity and Inclusion Award recipient. Dr. Crowder served eight years as Director for the Ophthalmology Residency Program and in 2015 achieved tenure status at UMMC and was promoted to serve as Department Chairman.
Dr. Crowder specializes in diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of eye pathology including cataracts, dry eye disease, glaucoma and the assessment of eye diseases related to many systemic conditions including diabetes and autoimmune disorders as well as the treatment of post-traumatic eye disease.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Crowder enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
