Biography: Dr. Satyapal Chahar, MD, is an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the Department of Pathology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, Mississippi, where he also serves as Medical Director of the Holmes County Hospital Laboratory and the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology and holds an active medical license in the state of Mississippi.

Dr. Chahar completed fellowships in Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Oncologic Surgical Pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He completed his residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to his pathology training, he served as a Medical Officer in Rajasthan, India, and conducted research at Boston Children’s Hospital.

His academic interests focus on gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and oncologic pathology, with particular emphasis on diagnostic pathology, medical education, and laboratory leadership. Dr. Chahar has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national presentations, contributing to advances in gastrointestinal pathology, liver disease, cancer diagnostics, and pathology education.

An active leader in organized pathology, Dr. Chahar serves as a USCAP and ASCP Ambassador, represents Mississippi in the College of American Pathologists House of Delegates, and participates in multiple educational and residency leadership initiatives. He has received several honors, including the Attending of the Year Award, the Trailblazer Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education, and selection as a Pathology Leadership Fellow through the Association of Pathology Chairs.

As a pathologist specializing in gastrointestinal, liver, and oncologic pathology, I work behind the scenes to provide precise diagnostic information that guides treatment decisions and helps clinicians deliver the best possible care.

I am committed to a collaborative, evidence-based approach, working closely with physicians, surgeons, and healthcare teams to ensure that each patient benefits from comprehensive and personalized medical care. I believe that excellence in pathology is essential to improving outcomes, advancing medical knowledge, and supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey.

In addition to clinical practice, I am passionate about medical education, mentorship, and research. By training future physicians and contributing to scientific discovery, I strive to advance the quality of healthcare for both current and future generations.
